Answer These Three Questions

1. What phone do you use?

  • iPhone → Get an Apple TV 4K. AirPlay, Siri, and the overall polish just make more sense in an Apple household.
  • Android → Get a Google TV Streamer. Smoother integration with Google apps and, if you use Google Home devices, it doubles as a smart hub.
  • Doesn’t matter to you either way → Skip to question 2.

2. Do you use Amazon Prime a lot?

  • Yes → Get an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Deep Alexa integration and Prime Video front and center.
  • No, or barely → Get a Roku Streaming Stick 4K. It’s the most neutral, easiest-to-use option, and it doesn’t try to push you toward any particular service.

3. Do you game, or run your own media server (Plex, Jellyfin, etc.)?

  • Yes → Skip everything above and get an Nvidia Shield TV Pro. It’s the only device built for this — nothing else on the market handles both game streaming and media serving as well.
  • No → Ignore this question, your answer from #1 or #2 stands.

Still Torn? Default to This

If none of the above feels obvious, get the Roku Streaming Stick 4K. It’s the safest, most broadly compatible pick — fast, simple, works the same no matter which streaming apps you use, and it’s rarely the “wrong” choice.

One More Thing: Stick or Box?

  • Get a stick (Roku Streaming Stick, Fire TV Stick) if your Wi-Fi is solid and you’re not picky about squeezing out every bit of speed.
  • Get a box (Apple TV, Fire TV Cube, Google TV Streamer, Nvidia Shield) if you want an Ethernet port, faster performance, or extra features like smart home hub support.
